Johnny Hasbeen: Who is Johnny?

Johnny Hasbeen

Born out of the wreckage of the New Jersey original music scene of the 80's and 90's comes Johnny Hasbeen - a newer band with an older soul.

Guitarist/vocalist - Bob Gilmartin, and drummer/vocalist - Chaim Garcia, have known each other and played in bands together since childhood. They had international success together in the 1990's and early 2000's with Mystery Bloom, Phantom's Opera, and New Machine. When they decided they no longer had a desire to 'pursue the dream', they decided to pursue something else - fun! So they entered into the wild and wooly world of the New Jersey 'Cover-Band' scene.

Bob got his start right away in such well-known bands as Overboard, The Life (where he met and became good friends with bassist - Moose), Super Monkey, Rocket Science, JY Kelly, and Mister Habit. Chaim joined Bob and Moose in Rocket Science in 2003 and then Super Monkey in 2004. When those bands dissolved, the three went their separate ways.

In early 2006, an opportunity presented itself to Bob and he contacted Moose and Chaim to see if they'd like to play again. But with one difference - bringing in a second guitar player/vocalist who could transform the music they were covering into a fuller and more vocal sound. That addition was guiarist/vocalist - Brian 'Skip' Delaney (who Bob and Chaim have known for almost 20 years and who was Bob's guitar tech for many years). The band began playing at City Streets in East Windsor in the Summer of 2006 and everything has taken off from there.

Because Johnny Hasbeen are accomplished musicians first, they immediately stand out from the pack. Incredible musicianship, vocal harmonies galore, and razor sharp senses of humor have already garnered a loyal following that continues to grow by the week!
